We have one non-negotiable rule: everything listed on Kalakaart must be made by a human being. No AI-generated work. No mass-produced items. No reselling of others' work.

How to Join

We are currently onboarding our first artists in Mumbai. To apply, write to us at kalakaart.in@gmail.com. Tell us a little about what you make and share a few photos of your work along with some pictures of the making process.

We'll get back to you within 48 hours.

What It Costs to Sell

Listing your work on Kalakaart is completely free. We charge a 10% commission only when a sale is made. There are no monthly fees, no listing fees, and no hidden charges.

Payment gateway charges (approximately 2%) are separate and borne by the platform while the shipping charges are borne by the seller.

Pricing Your Work

You set your own price. We will never tell you your work is priced too high or too low. Kalakaart is built on the belief that every creator knows the value of what they've made.

That said, we recommend pricing to include your material costs, your time, and a reasonable profit... not just material costs alone. Your art has value.

Photography Standards

Good photos are the single most important factor in whether your work sells online. Every listing must include:

• Minimum 5 photographs per item
• One full-view photograph showing the complete piece
• One close-up showing texture or detail
• One lifestyle or scale photograph showing the piece in context - be it on a wall, on a table, held in hands
• One BTS of the work / process of making the item 

Photographs must be taken in natural daylight. Phone cameras are perfectly fine. Avoid heavy filters. Buyers want to see exactly what they're getting.

Packaging Guidelines

Every seller is responsible for packing their work safely before handover to the courier. Kalakaart's minimum packaging standards:

• All flat artwork must be wrapped in bubble wrap, minimum 2 layers
• Corners must be protected with cardboard corner guards or folded cardboard
• Fragile or 3D items must be placed in a rigid box with padding on all sides
• Include a handwritten note or card if you'd like, buyers love this and it costs nothing :)

Damage caused by inadequate packaging is the seller's responsibility. Damage caused by the courier after proper packing is covered under our shipment policy.

Shipping

Sellers are currently responsible for booking their own courier pickup via Shiprocket, Delhivery, or any reliable courier of their choice. We will guide you through this process for your first order.

Shipping charges are either absorbed into your listing price or charged to the buyer separately — your choice when setting up your listing.

All orders above ₹2,000 in value must be sent with basic shipment insurance. We will provide guidance on how to do this.

When You Get Paid

Once an order is marked delivered and the buyer's 3-day review window has closed, payment is transferred to your registered bank account within 10-15 working days. We use Razorpay for all payouts, hence you will need to provide your bank account details during onboarding.

Returns and Disputes

Because every piece on Kalakaart is a one-of-a-kind original, so we are sad to see returns but everyone deserves to be happy with their purchase so let us know the reason for the return. Additionally:

• If an item arrives damaged, the buyer must report it within 48 hours of delivery with photographs
• We will mediate between buyer and seller to find a fair resolution
• If damage was caused by inadequate packaging, the seller bears responsibility
• If damage was caused by the courier, we work together to claim compensation
• We will not accept returns if something has been customised at the buyers request

We are a small team and we handle every dispute personally. We will always be fair to both sides.

Your Rights as a Seller

• You retain full copyright of your work at all times
• Kalakaart does not claim ownership of any artwork listed on the platform
• We will never use your work in our marketing without your explicit permission
• You can remove your listings at any time
